"An Autumn Dinner/Dance"

Benedictine Dinner-Dance Well Attended

The first joint dinner-dance hosted by the alumni associations of San Beda/St. Benedict Colleges and St. Scholastica's College in Toronto was a success. Attended by almost 300 people, the event, called An Autumn Dinner-Dance, was held on the evening of October 21, 2006 at the Wyndham Bristol Place and was graced by the presence of Philippine Consul General Alejandro Mosquera (a Bedan) and Sr. Mary Placid Abejo, O.S.B., Dean of Music and Alumnae Moderator of St. Scholastica's College.

Apart from the excellent dinner and danceable music, the dinner-dance also featured door prizes donated by officers of both associations, including an 15" LCD TV donated by the San Beda alumni. A 50-50 draw was also held with the winners, Dr. and Mrs. Mario Andres, graciously donating their winnings to the alumni associations' charities. The midnight dessert table, provided by the alumni associations, featured Filipino desserts, which were appreciated by the Filipino and non-Filipino guests alike.

The dinner dance was a fund-raiser for the charities both associations support and was a great opportunity for the alumni of these Benedictine schools to work together. Inspired by its success, plans are being made for possible joint events, religious, charitable and/or social, in the future.
