Dear Scholastican Alumnae,

We bring you good news!  We are expecting a visit from Sr. Mary Placid in mid-October and are holding a gathering so that we can all meet with her.  The gathering will be held at the New Conservatory of Music, 4466 Sheppard Avenue East (at Brimley), Scarborough, 5:30 P.M. on Sunday, October 14, 2001.  As usual, it’s potluck.  Call any one of the officers to let us know whether you can attend, how many are attending (spouses and children are welcome, too), and what you would like to contribute to the table.  Sr. Mary Placid is eager to see as many Scholasticans as possible, so please mark this date on your calendar.

We would also like to report that the Gala Night, our 10^th anniversary celebration, was very successful. It was held on May 4 (a dinner dance with a two-piano concert held at Famee Furlane). 

As you can see from the attached financial statements, we have a healthy balance in our account and we plan to present Sister with our donations at our gathering -- $3,500 for St. Scholastica’s scholarship fund and $3,500 for her music ministry.  We are also planning to donate $1,000 to Fr. James Reuter’s ministry, a hospital for the “poorest of the poor”.

It’s time to elect new officers for the Association.  The active members of the Association have nominated the following slate of officers:

If you wish to nominate other Scholasticans for any of the above positions, please call Mrs. Cecilia Fiel (Tita Liling) at 416-287-2680 before September 30.  If possible, we want to have new officers in place for Sr. Mary Placid’s visit in October.

We wish to thank the outgoing officers who have indicated that they are resigning from office – Myra dela Cruz Salonga, President, and Tessie Salazar Haab, Secretary.  We thank them for all the years they worked to make our association what it is today.

We look forward to seeing you on October 14.
