Marikina Visit
by Linda Nanawa

Yesterday, Thursday, Elsa, Genggay and myself went with Yvette to SSC Marikina to visit some sisters. Srs. Asuncion, Simeona, Ancilla, Ildefonsa, and Yvette's and Mila's aunt, Sr. Margarita were there. It was fun for us and, we believe, for the sisters too. Remember them all?

Sr. Asuncion, now 78 and still very youthful in gait claims she is the youngest of the group;

Sr. Simeona, now 88, but still so strong and with better memory than most of us;

Sr. Ancilla - our nun from the canteen who could not/would not reveal to Yvette the recipe of a coke-colored gulaman of long ago's refectory;

Sr. Ildefonsa, who suffered a stroke about 5 years ago (because, as Sr. Simeona whispered to us, she is kapampangan, loves to eat and ate a lot of lechon during her feastday! ) - it was a delight to watch her reacting to Elsa's solo rendition of our Santa Kulasa song, esp at the Ora et Labora part; and, courtesy of modern communication and Elsa's cell phone, Mila Magno and her mom, first cousin Helen, (who are in Canada) were able to connect with tita Margarita during our visit.

Had a simple lunch there [adobo, pancit na may lechon, & ice cream] but we had to be reminded that we were depriving them of their siesta time.

Bye, and a repeat forFebruary, 2003
