PRAYER FOR THE DEAD

GOD OUR FATHER, we are gathered here to say farewell to one whom we have loved, someone who has had a very special place in our hearts and in our lives. We thank you Lord for the times you have given us to share together your gift of love. We pray for your pardon and forgiveness for anything we might have done to hurt each other. Help us, Lord, to live peacefully with the imperfections of our human relationships knowing that you accept us as we are. Comfort us through the memories our loved one leaves with us. May they give us courage in our journey into the future. Grant your servant a place of peace in your kingdom, where there is no more suffering, or crying out, or pain. Bless the one we loved in life and keep him/her in your care. We ask this in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
