President's Report

St. Scholastica's College Alumnae Association, Canada - Ontario Chapter
27 Courtney Crescent

Richmond Hill, Ontario    L4E 4C2

November 8, 2004

Dear Scholastican Alumna,

Warm greetings from your St. Scholastica's College Alumnae Association Canada (SSCAAC) - Ontario Chapter!

The present Executive Committee of SSCAAC was officially installed by Sr. Mary Placid Abejo, OSB on October 14, 2001.  Based on our current Charter/By-Laws, each officer has a three-(3)-year tenure, and therefore our term of office is coming to an end as at December 31, 2004.  However, it is also provided that each officer is allowed to seek re-election and renew her term of office for another 3 years, if she so decides.

We would like to open the Nominations and Elections of a new set of officers to all the members of the association.  You can nominate yourself or have someone nominate you for one of the following eleven (11) positions:

                        President
                        1st Vice President
                        2nd Vice President
                        1st Secretary
                        2nd Secretary
                        Treasurer
                        Auditor
Public Relations Officer (PRO) - Three (3): East, West and International
                        Information Officer

The deadline for submission of names for Nominations/Elections via email is on Tuesday, November 30, 2004, to allow for an orderly transition of office for the new fiscal year, 2005.

We hope you will have the utmost enthusiasm to participate and play an active role in our association.  We are very positive that many of you have the keen interest, talent, achievements and expertise which you can share with your fellow Scholastican.  We need all of you in order to continue our ongoing support to our 'alma mater' and our forthcoming 2006 Centennial celebrations and particularly to our charities, especially the poor children.

Please visit our website for the Charter / By-Laws, which will give you the information on the scope of the job responsibilities for each position.

On a spiritual note, to prepare us for Lent in the new year 2005, we have arranged for 'A Day of Spiritual Journey and Reflection'.  The first ever in the history of our association, which will also be a day of reckoning for us alumnae keeping in mind the solemn retreats we used to have, officiated by the Jesuit priests, during our school days.  The theme, "Reconciliation of our Faith with the World Today" is very fitting, given the challenging scenarios to our belief and devotion to the Lord and the Blessed Mother.  Fr. Winston Rye of the Society of Jesus will take us to this Lenten Day of Recollection on Saturday, February 19, 2005.  He is the Treasurer and Director of Development for the Jesuit Fathers of Upper Canada and he is also the Superior of Canadian Martyrs Jesuit Residence in Toronto.

Finally, the Audited Financial Report for the year ending December 31, 2004 will be published in our website for your information and guidance.  Please be advised that partial disbursements of the funds raised on "Evening of Dance and Romance" on October 18, 2003 were remitted on October 22, 2003, totaling $7,000.00 to the following recipients:

C$2,500.00 given to St. Scholastica's College Manila - for the Music Ministry - c/o Sr. Mary Placid, Abejo, OSB

C$2,500.00 given to St. Scholastica's College Manila - for Scholarships - c/o Sr. Mary Placid, Abejo, OSB

C$2,000.00 given to Our Lady of Peace Hospital/Home for Abused Children - c/o Fr. James B. Reuter, S. J.

The remaining funds which will be presented in the financial report has been earmarked for the Good Shepherd Sisters' Cottage Industry helping women and children; Fr. Reuter's Our Lady of Peace Hospital; and the SSC 2006 Centennial celebrations.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to send in your annual dues of $10.00.  Also, you have to be a member in 'good standing' to seek nomination/election.

Looking forward to your healthy response!

"That in all things God may be glorified".

Pax,

BOOTS DELGADO MONTANO
President
